Apple iPhone 7 review

Overview

4.7-inc Retina HD display

12MP camera with OIS

7MP front-facing lens

A10 Fusion chip with 64-bit

Available in 32GB, 128GB and 256GB

Advantages

The phone is water resistant and it is double the internal capacity and contains a good low light camera.

Disadvantages

The phone takes up a time to get charged when I started using it, it had no trouble with it very readable

It lacks clear upgrades and its battery is unimpressive

Customer reviews

Such great phone, lovely to hold it, great features I love it

Operating system: iOS
Screen size: 5.5-inch screen
Front camera resolution: 7 MP Front Camera
Rear camera resolution: 12 MP Rear Camera
Feature: 4G LTE, Quad-band, Unlocked

The Apple iPhone 7 keeps the same look as the previous model, but is now water-resistant and comes in a Jet Black colour option. The iPhone 7 is faster, with more memory, a better camera and longer battery life, but the price has gone up again. Oh, and the headphone jack has been removed just like iPhone X.

Prices

iPhone 7 has a range of prices depending on where you want to buy it. Some of the prices are

iPhone 7 (32GB)  £510

iPhone 7 (128GB)  £608

Samsung Phones

Samsung Galaxy S8 review

Operating system: Android
Screen size: 5.8-inch screen
Front camera resolution: 8 MP Front Camera
Rear camera resolution: 12 MP Rear Camera
Feature: 4G LTE, Quad-band, Unlocked

The Samsung Galaxy S8 takes Samsung’s infinity screen concept into new territory, with an enormous 5.8-inch quad-HD dual-curved display packed into a compact handset. Brimming with market-leading features, the Galaxy S8 is the best-looking and arguably the best phone on the market in 2017, but it has a price to match.

Prices

Depending on where you want to buy it, prices differ

Samsung Galaxy S8  (64GB)  £490

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 review

Operating system: Android
Screen size: 6.3-inch screen
Front camera resolution: 8 MP Front Camera
Rear camera resolution: 12 MP Rear Camera
Storage capacity: 64 GB

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is an enhanced version of the S8+. Even thicker and heavier, it’s a massive phone and won’t be suitable for everyone. But it offers the same incredible curved AMOLED display and top-end specs as the S8+, plus an S Pen, dual lens camera, iris scanner and 6GB of RAM, making it the most powerful phone ever .

Prices

Depending on the capacity and where you buy it the price may vary

Samsung Note (single sim) £635

Samsung Galaxy S7 G930V 32GB Smartphone, Verizon Wireless CDMA + GSM, Gold Platinum (Certified Refurbished)

Samsung Galaxy J3 2016 review

Operating system: Android
Screen size: 5-inch screen
Front camera resolution: 5 MP Front Camera
Rear camera resolution: 8 MP Rear Camera
Feature: 4G LTE, Quad-band, Unlocked

The Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) is a top buy. Costing a little over £100, this is a smartly-styled superslim phone with a high-definition 5 inch AMOLED screen that outperforms any rival at this price. Benefiting from a quadcore processor, 4G Super-Voice compatibility, and a big battery, the J3 is an all-around performer.

Samsung Galaxy J5 2016 review

Operating system: Android
Screen size: 5.2-inch screen
Front camera resolution: 5 MP Front Camera
Rear camera resolution: 13 MP Rear Camera
Feature: 4G LTE, Quad-band, Unlocked

The Samsung Galaxy J5 (2016 Edition) is a mid-range smartphone with premium design and a good spread of features. We draw your attention to its superb AMOLED HD screen, exceptional battery life, Android Marshmallow, 16GB of memory and 2GB of RAM. The Snapdragon 410 processor isn’t the fastest in town, but it gets the job done.

Samsung Galaxy S7 review

Operating system: Android
Screen size: 5.1-inch screen
Front camera resolution: 5 MP Front Camera
Rear camera resolution: 12 MP Rear Camera
Feature: 4G LTE, Quad-band, Unlocked

The Samsung Galaxy S7 launched in the UK on 11th March. Building on the Galaxy S6, the S7 features an all-metal water-resistant design with a 5.1 inch Quad HD display. It uses Samsung’s new super-fast 8-core Exynos 8 processor, and includes a microSD card slot, allowing the memory to be expanded to 200GB. A new dual pixel camera enables even better low-light photography, and the new selfie flash lets you capture perfect shots of yourself and your friends. An enhanced 3,000mAh battery keeps the phone going for longer. The S7 is already priced very competitively for a flagship phone, and we don’t hesitate to recommend it.

Samsung Galaxy A3 2017 review

Operating system: Android
Screen size: 4.7-inch screen
Front camera resolution: 8 MP Front Camera
Rear camera resolution: 13 MP Rear Camera
Feature: 4G LTE, Quad-band, Unlocked

The Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017 edition) is a compact and slim smartphone with a stunning unibody design. With a decent processor, excellent screen and a good camera, only the battery life is below average. The price has now fallen considerably, making it excellent value for money.

Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 review

Operating system: Android
Storage capacity: 32 GB

The Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 is a beautiful phone with a sharp screen, fast processor, and plenty of memory. Now that the price has fallen to its super value too.

Samsung Galaxy A3 2016 review

Operating system: Android
Screen size: 4.7-inch screen
Front camera resolution: 5 MP Front Camera
Rear camera resolution: 13 MP Rear Camera
Feature: 4G LTE, Quad-band, Unlocked

The Samsung Galaxy A3 2016-edition is probably our favourite mid-range phone! We doubt that you’ll find another compact premium handset this good. Sleek metal-and-glass looks give the new A3 killer looks, and it packs in a high spec too – an HD AMOLED screen, a fast quad-core processor, and strong battery life.

Google Pixel phones

Google Pixel Phone – 5 inch display ( Factory Unlocked US Version ) (32GB, Quite Black)

Google Pixel review
The Google Pixel phone introduces Android Nougat 7 and gives you a phone that’s very fast and has a great camera. But design-wise it’s an ugly duckling. It’s available in a choice of 32GB or 128GB versions but misses out on a microSD card. For a phone that costs as much as the latest iPhone, it fails to match the hype.

Google Pixel XL review
The Google Pixel XL is a super-sized version of the Pixel, with a stunning 5.5 inch Quad HD screen. The phone runs Android Nougat 7 at lightning speed and has a great camera and good battery life. We can’t get excited about Google’s first attempt at styling a phone, however, and the greedy pricing shoots the phone out of the water for the majority of users.

Prices

It varies depending on capacity and where you buy it

Google Pixel XL  £449

LG Nexus 5X review

LG Q6-32 GB – Unlocked (AT&T/T-Mobile) – Platinum – Prime Exclusive

The LG Nexus 5X is a good-value phone premiering the brand-new Android Marshmallow. It’s lightweight and easily managed phone, with a 5.2-inch screen and a conventional fingerprint sensor on the back. The cameras are good, the 6-core processor fast, and it includes the new USB Type-C connector, which enables fast charging of the battery. You might need this, as battery life isn’t stellar. The main issue we have with the Nexus 5S is the lack of expandable memory – don’t even think about buying the base 16GB version!

LG Phones

LG G6 review

Operating system: Android
Screen size: 5.7-inch screen
Front camera resolution: 5 MP Front Camera
Rear camera resolution: 13 MP Rear Camera
Feature: 4G LTE, Quad-band, Unlocked

The LG G6 is a premium metal-and-glass phone with a huge 5.7 inch HDR screen. Dual rear cameras, water resistance, Android 7 and a fingerprint sensor complete the package, but we’re not sure why it’s quite so expensive.

LG G5 / G5 SE review

Operating system: Android
Screen size: 5.3-inch screen
Front camera resolution: 8 MP Front Camera
Rear camera resolution: 16 MP Rear Camera
Feature: 4G LTE, Unlocked

The G5 is LG’s flagship handset for 2016. Finished in aluminium, the G5 features a fast Snapdragon 820 processor, a 5.3 inch Quad HD screen, and plenty of memory. It has a modular design, with an optional snap-on camera grip, and a fingerprint sensor on the back. The G5 SE comes with dual 16MP and 8MP cameras.

LG K8 review

Operating system: Android
Screen size: 5-inch screen
Front camera resolution: 5 MP Front Camera
Rear camera resolution: 8 MP Rear Camera
Feature: 4G LTE, Quad-band, Unlocked

We’re struggling to find anything about the LG K8 that isn’t average. Although it has a 5 inch HD screen, a quad-core processor and an 8-megapixel camera, so does every other phone in the ~£150 mid-range – many have better specs than the K8. The phone is let down further by its tacky design, woeful 8GB of memory, and under-sized battery.

LG K4 review

Operating system: Android
Screen size: 5-inch screen
Front camera resolution: 5 MP Front Camera
Rear camera resolution: 5 MP Rear Camera
Feature: 4G LTE, Quad-band, Unlocked

The LG K4 (also confusingly called the K120E) is a phone that’s just going through the motions in a half-hearted way. It’s a lightweight smartphone, with a cheap feel, thanks to the plastic silver trim around the screen and the textured back. Inside, you’ll find a very slow 1GHz CPU and just 8GB of memory. You’ll find better phones that cost no more – like the Motorola Moto C, for instance.

Prices

It has the price that varies depending on the shop you buy, the lowest price is shown below

LG K4 £88

  • Great review! I agree with your ratings for each of the phones as they are similar and deliver what they intended to do. Although I wish there was more information, I can still appreciate what great phones iPhones and Samsungs are!

    Thankyou:)

  • Thank you for a great review of phones.
I am not a big fan of Apple iPhones and I need a good camera on the phone so would you recommend going with Samsung Or LG?

    1. Hi Moni
Between the two Samsung and LG my opinion and my view in short if you look for camera then Samsung
And to be Specific Samsung Galaxy S8 has the best camera compared to LG G6 otherwise LG phones have good cameras
Samsung S8 has new sensor new optics new image processing algorithm. It uses Sony IMX333 sensor with dual autofocus.has resolution 12Megapixels
LG G6 is also very good has two real cameras one standard and one wide angle both cameras use Sony IMX258 sensor resolution 13Megapixels
Now taking all into consideration on real quality Samsung G8 seems to knock LG G6.so my recommendation I can say Samsung G8 will do you good and high quality pictures

  • Hello I really like your reviews I think your pretty accurate will all your ratings, I personally don’t like apple products but that’s not really a problem I currently have a Samsung S7 which I love.

    Thanks

    Andy.

  • Great reviews. I’m partial to the Samsung line. I’ve had one for several years without an issue. Will be looking to upgrade in the near future. My son has an I-phone provided by his employer. Between the two, I still prefer the Samsung. Thanks for including the price comparison. It will have an impact on my final decision.
