In its overall form size, iPhone 8 is much similar to iPhone 7. The big changes have gone to iPhone X. iPhone 8 has rounded sides and a Touch ID button that is located below the display. However, iPhone 8 is visibly different to iPhone 7 because of the glass back that has replaced the 7000-series aluminium that was used in iPhone 7. The reason Apple has implemented this change is that it can implement wireless charging.

Further to its design, Apple decided to introduce an IP67 water-resistance rating that was introduced in iPhone 7  which is also found in iPhone 8 and 8 plus.

iPhone 8

It has the most durable glass ever for all iPhone both front and back

Resist water and dust due to its precision-engineering

Requires no charging cable meaning is designed for future of wireless

Has Retina HD display that is very beautiful than with Truetone.

It has a small screen to enjoy using social media such as whatsup etc.

The phone has a powerful camera that produces beautiful pictures

The box comes with charger, headphones, SIM card removal, USB cable and quick start guide

iPhone 8, despite its great features, lacks headset jack; however, what Apple did is that it has included both a Lightning-to-3.5 mm Dongle and a pair of Lightening EarPods in a box.

iPhone 8 has an A11 Bionic chip that has been built using the same 10nm manufacturing process as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835. It has good RAM of 2GB (3GB for 8 plus).

Apple has said the Bionic chip is 25% faster than A10 used in iPhone 7 and it has Apple’s first designed GPU that is built for Mental 2 especially.

Testing both iPhones customers agree that iPhone 8 is faster; however, iPhone 7 still is the fast than many phones on the market.

The display is similar to iPhone 7 as they are both available with 4.7-inc and 5.5-inch IPS LCD panel with a Retina resolution. However, if you are interested in something different then you can go for iPhone X that has a near-bezel-free OLED display.

iPhone 8 and iPhone 7

There are some uniqueness in iPhone 8. iPhone 8 adds True Tone that helps to alter the temperature of the display depending on the environment you are in. This makes viewing much easier particularly when you are in the dark

iPhone 8 has also the ability to play back HDR/Dolby Vision content from the famous Netflix and iTunes for added brightness and contrast.

iPhone 8 has improved on the camera than iPhone 7 as it has made a bevvy of small changes. Although it is still 12MP f/1.8 and dual-sensor 12MP camera with better pixel processing, reduction in noise and a faster autofocus.

If you look at the picture of iPhone 8 you will see that it is great with better saturation that is rich in colours, however, if you decide to get this iPhone 8 as your upgrade you will notice that it is not as good as Pixel 2

One of the most important things, when we look for iPhone, is the power of the battery. iPhone 8 is actually smaller than iPhone 7, but it is optimised for the new CPU and it does make it last longer. You can use the whole day without asking for a charger

Since iPhone 8 has a glass back design it is able to be compatible with wireless charging accessories. When it was launched its wireless charging capabilities were capped at 5W. This meant that the wireless charging was not faster than the wired charger. However, the coming upgrade on A11.2 iOS may raise the cap to 7.5W that will give a boost to speed if you will have to use compatible accessories.

Costs of Each Phone 7 or 8

In 2016 when it first went for sale iPhone 7 started off at £599 for 32GB of storage and about £699 for 128GB.

While iPhone 8 started off at £699 ($699) for 64GB and £799 ($799) for 128 GB. Larger capacity such as 128GB was £899 $899

best price iPhone 8 plus

If you want to buy let’s look at their prices below

iPhone 7     (128GB)          $409.00          ( $)

iPhone 7     (32gb)             $408.00   ($)

iPhone 8     (64GB)          $825         ( $)

iPhone 8     (256GB)         £949      ($)

Having looked at both iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 there is no doubt that iPhone 8 is a huge upgrade from iPhone 7 but not enough to out stage iPhone 7. The camera and screen are better but these are small updates hence iPhone 7 is still a great deal to buy or upgrade.

I can recommend buying iPhone 7 however if you prefer upgraded model then iPhone 8 is the answer.

  • I think your comparison was well done, giving plenty of information.

    1. thank you for your comments

  • It seems to me that the biggest changes here are the chipset and capability of wireless charging.

I’m also not surprised that it doesn’t have a headphone jack. Apple has wanted to move away from the 3.5 mm headphone jack for a while. This was one of the reasons they moved away from the 30 pin connector.

If I remember correctly, there are some Asian countries where using the 3.5 mm head phone jack is a thing of the past.

How do you feel these phones hold up against the flagship Andriod phones?

    1. Hi Steve
You are right not having a headphone jack is a drawback however looking in their perceptive it is an opportunity of introducing new application. This will make competition with Android interesting

  • Nice comparison chart brother. I have a cheap phone because I only use it for texting and calling, however, with the rise of bigger and better apps, and of course SnapChat I think I want to upgrade to something with more space and higher speed so I can use these. Even the Iphone 7 has some nice storage space and good speed. I think I’ll go with this since I don’t need “top quality” just yet.

    1. Hi Brandon
